More than one way
to fund your studies.
Romanian MFA scholarships
Government support for eligible non-EU applicants under the published award conditions and approved study routes.
Your next action: Read the full programme rules, language route, academic threshold and exclusions before applying online.
Check the official source ↗University awards and fee concessions
Institutional support varies by university, programme and entrant category.
Your next action: Use the university’s actual award notice and confirm whether it supports new international applicants.
Check the official source ↗Doctoral schools and funded research
Doctoral admission and research support may be organised through specific schools or projects.
Your next action: Find a relevant host, read the funding and admission conditions and distinguish a place from a paid position.
Check the official source ↗Erasmus Mundus routes with Romanian partners
A joint master’s may include a Romanian partner; scholarship and mobility conditions belong to the consortium.
Your next action: Check the actual partner list, scholarship availability and degree requirements before adding it to your plan.

Programme language and duration
Include any required preparatory language year in your study and living-cost plan.
What the award pays
Read tuition, accommodation and stipend provisions separately; support does not necessarily eliminate personal or travel costs.
Direct-admission alternatives
An English-taught or excluded-subject programme may need a different funding plan. Confirm tuition and official immigration evidence before committing.
Your starting document checklist
Use this to organise the file; the provider’s current requirements determine the final list.
- Passport and eligibility information requested by the scholarship or university.
- School or degree certificates and complete transcripts.
- Accepted translations and legalisation or apostille where required.
- Evidence of the language route and any accepted language preparation or exemption.
- CV, motivation or research documents requested by the specific process.
- Formal award or acceptance documents at the post-selection stage.
- Insurance, accommodation and financial evidence required by the competent immigration authority.

One clear step
at a time.
Use the checklist to keep your own place. These are preparation milestones, not a substitute for official approval.
Choose the degree and language route first
Find programmes at the right degree level and check the actual teaching language. Separate the government scholarship route from a directly admitted English-taught course. A course appearing in a university catalogue does not establish that the MFA scholarship will fund it.
Compare subject content, duration and entry standards with your previous study. For a doctorate, identify a school or project that fits your research preparation and ask how admission and supervision are arranged. Build alternatives around programmes you can complete academically and financially.

Read the government award’s eligibility and exclusions
Check the MFA programme’s nationality category, qualification requirements and exclusions before writing an application. Its rules include an academic threshold and excluded subject areas; do not assume it is an unrestricted award for every international applicant.
Check how your grades will be evidenced rather than presenting your own conversion as an official decision. Read the programme’s language requirements and any preparatory-year arrangements for your degree stage. Keep the official rules with your tracker so your choices remain within the actual scholarship scope.
For this MFA route, bachelor’s and master’s study is in Romanian; doctoral applicants can use a language offered by the school. Doctoral applicants must obtain the tutor’s written agreement and satisfy the admission interview requirements.

Plan from the current call and university notices
Open the official scholarship portal and record the currently announced application window. Distinguish the date a guide was reviewed from the closing date of the actual competition. When the next call is not confirmed, organise preparation without inventing an opening date.
For direct university admission or a doctorate, record the relevant faculty and international-applicant deadlines separately. Include time for document translation and any recognition requirements. Keep selection, acceptance, language preparation and enrolment as distinct milestones rather than one assumed application event.

Prepare official academic documents carefully
Collect complete certificates and transcripts with consistent names and dates. Read which documents require translations, certification or other formalities and use the receiving authority’s instructions. Avoid paying for unnecessary procedures based on a generic checklist.
Check file format, readability, page order and upload limits. Where a certificate is not yet issued, obtain written confirmation that the available provisional evidence is acceptable. Keep originals safe and store the final submitted versions alongside the applicable official instructions.

Build a suitable motivation or research case
Explain how the selected degree relates to your preparation and future plans. Make your programme choices coherent and support claims with actual achievements or experience. A strong statement should clarify fit rather than conceal an unmet eligibility condition.
For research, develop a focused question and a feasible method, then match it to a relevant doctoral school or supervisor. Check whether references, a proposal or an interview are required. Seek feedback without inventing publications, qualifications or personal circumstances to make the application appear stronger.

Submit through the correct official route
Use the government scholarship portal for that competition and the university’s own process for direct admission. Read whether any institutional selection, document forwarding or additional evidence is required. Do not assume one application automatically enters another process.
Review the complete form, save the confirmation and check for follow-up requests. Track results and acceptance instructions carefully. Avoid sending sensitive documents to unofficial contacts who claim they can bypass selection; an adviser cannot replace the formal decision-making process.

Check the placement and full financial position
Read the formal award or offer for the institution, degree, study language, preparatory arrangements and acceptance conditions. Clarify any difference between your preferences and the final placement before making commitments.
Compare the supported tuition, accommodation and stipend with your personal costs and the expected payment schedule. Check what happens if you do not meet language or academic continuation requirements. Keep an arrival reserve and a documented alternative where funding does not cover the entire plan.

Prepare the study visa and residence sequence
Use IGI guidance and the Romanian mission serving your legal residence to confirm the route and supporting evidence. Formal acceptance, payment or scholarship evidence and the required insurance and financial documentation must be prepared in the accepted form.
Study permission before entry and residence formalities after arrival are distinct. Check the applicable timelines rather than assuming university enrolment completes immigration requirements. Use the competent authority or an authorised adviser for a complex individual case and avoid non-refundable travel before essential approvals.

Complete enrolment and organise the first year
Confirm arrival dates, accommodation, original-document checks and the university’s final enrolment process. Where a language-preparation stage applies, understand its timetable and progression conditions before departure.
Keep award, admission and immigration evidence accessible. Record renewal, reporting and academic progress requirements in one calendar. For doctoral study, agree supervision and research induction early. Contact the international office promptly when a practical problem affects registration, accommodation or your ability to satisfy an award condition.

Questions worth asking.
Can the MFA scholarship fund medicine?
The cited programme excludes medicine, dental medicine and pharmacy. A university’s admission options do not override the scholarship’s subject restrictions.
Is an English-taught degree automatically eligible?
No. Read the government award’s degree-specific language rules; a separate university course may require a different route.
Should I apply to the scholarship portal or university?
Use the process for the route you have chosen. Government scholarship and direct-admission applications must not be treated as interchangeable.
