Know the windows.
Plan the work before them.
These dates do different jobs. A typical window helps you plan; only the applicable official call sets your deadline.
10–12 months before entry
Compare English- or Greek-taught programmes, subject prerequisites and realistic funding routes.
University calls
Opening, document and interview dates vary by programme. Check the actual international-applicant notice.
ACES-STAR 2026 example
The full-scholarship deadline was 30 January 2026 and that application cycle is closed.
Future joint-master’s funding
The programme directs visitors to later updates for 2027. Do not assume a previous scholarship allocation will be renewed.

More than one way
to fund your studies.
IKY / Study in Greece scholarship discovery
A platform collecting scholarship information; it is not one automatically available government award.
Your next action: Read the underlying provider’s eligibility, nationality, degree, subject and current closing date.
Check the official source ↗Erasmus Mundus ACES-STAR
An aquaculture-focused joint master’s with study in Scotland, Crete and France. Scholarship availability follows each consortium call.
Your next action: Check the relevant intake and academic requirements; the 2026 full-scholarship round is closed.
Check the official source ↗ACES-STAR fee-waiver route
The provider distinguishes tuition-and-insurance support from a full living-support scholarship. Future availability depends on the applicable call.
Your next action: Calculate remaining living, travel and visa costs and verify the next intake before applying.
Check the official source ↗University and research-project opportunities
Departmental awards and research support vary by project, study stage and institution.
Your next action: Use an actual university call and clarify whether it provides a stipend, employment or only fee assistance.

Partial versus full support
A fee waiver can leave accommodation, food, travel and visas unpaid. A joint degree also requires a multi-country budget.
Immigration and arrival
Prepare the official financial and insurance evidence alongside a practical reserve for housing deposits and the first weeks.
Your starting document checklist
Use this to organise the file; the provider’s current requirements determine the final list.
- Passport and full school or university qualifications with transcripts.
- Required qualification recognition or supporting academic evidence for the intended admission route.
- Accepted Greek or English language evidence for the programme.
- CV, statement, references and any requested portfolio or research proposal.
- Scholarship-specific nationality, subject and academic evidence.
- Formal offer and proof of fees or funding at the appropriate stage.
- Consular, insurance, accommodation and residence documents required for your route.

One clear step
at a time.
Use the checklist to keep your own place. These are preparation milestones, not a substitute for official approval.
Choose the actual programme and study language
Use the official programme and university pages to compare degree level, language, content and admission requirements. Do not assume that an international-facing university website means every programme is taught in English.
Record whether the course is a national degree, a joint programme or a research route. For a consortium, list all study locations and the qualification awarded. Build a shortlist based on your academic preparation and intended outcome, with a financially workable alternative if the most competitive funding is not obtained.

Check the qualification and applicant route
Read the department’s instructions for applicants with your qualification and nationality. Confirm the required academic documents, subject background, language evidence and any recognition procedure. A master’s application need not follow the same process as undergraduate entry.
Ask the receiving office a precise question when the published criteria do not explain your case. Keep the answer and distinguish a document that is missing from a qualification that is not sufficient. For research, check the doctoral school’s supervisory and proposal requirements before contacting academics.

Turn scholarship discovery into a verified shortlist
Use the scholarship platform to discover possible routes, then read the actual provider’s call. Filter by degree stage, subject, nationality and intended intake before preparing applications. A programme appearing in a directory is not proof that it currently has an open funded place.
Write down the supported costs and the number of funded months. For institution-based assistance, check whether it is available to new international entrants or only students already enrolled. Keep closed competitions as future-planning leads rather than immediate applications.

Check the full itinerary of a joint master’s
For an international consortium, read the academic requirements, partner institutions and mobility sequence. ACES-STAR illustrates why a programme with a Greek partner is not a degree spent entirely in Greece. Confirm whether your prior subject and research preparation meet its actual criteria.
Check the scholarship category and cycle separately from self-funded admission. A fee waiver must not be mistaken for a full living allowance. Budget for travel and administrative requirements across the actual study locations, and verify future funding rather than assuming the previous intake’s support continues unchanged.

Prepare a credible and complete application
Tailor the statement to the degree or project and support your academic interests with real experience. For research, explain a question, feasible methods and the reason the proposed host is suitable. Keep your name, qualifications, dates and publication details consistent across files.
Arrange references and accepted translations in good time. Follow the exact file and certification instructions, and keep originals safe. Review the completed application on another device to catch unreadable pages, missing attachments or formatting that obscures important evidence.

Submit by the correct admission and funding deadlines
Use the university or consortium’s official portal and record the local closing time. Check whether scholarship consideration requires an extra form or selection option. A self-funded admission deadline may be later than the scholarship deadline.
Save your confirmation and inspect the portal for missing documents, unpaid official fees or incomplete references. Monitor requests during selection and respond promptly. Keep interview, results and acceptance dates in the tracker so a successful decision does not lapse because its next step was missed.

Read the offer against the whole degree budget
Compare admission and funding decisions carefully. Record tuition, any waiver, living support, insurance, duration and continuation requirements. For a joint programme, account for the costs in each country and the timing of scholarship payments.
Ask the provider to clarify conditional or ambiguous language before committing money. Do not count an unconfirmed grant as evidence of financial support. Review the institution’s deposit, cancellation and deferral conditions and maintain a realistic reserve for the beginning of the programme.

Use the correct consular and residence process
Use official guidance for non-EU study in Greece and the mission responsible for your legal residence. Confirm the acceptance, funds, fees and insurance evidence required for your case. Students in a joint programme must also follow the rules for their other study destinations.
Check how entry permission and post-arrival residence formalities connect and which deadlines apply. Do not assume admission or scholarship selection guarantees immigration approval. Ask the relevant authority or an authorised adviser when a personal circumstance needs legal interpretation.

Complete university registration and maintain the award
Confirm enrolment dates, original-document inspection, accommodation and orientation before travel. Keep your offer, funding decision and immigration evidence accessible and check which local formalities you need to complete after arrival.
Record attendance, progress and reporting requirements attached to the degree or award. For research, agree early milestones with the supervisor; for a joint programme, keep the next mobility deadlines visible. Use the university’s international office early when a practical problem could affect your registration or funding.

Questions worth asking.
Does the national scholarship platform award every listed scholarship?
No. It is a discovery platform; the provider named in each underlying call controls eligibility and selection.
Can a joint programme be completed only in Greece?
Not necessarily. Check the consortium’s compulsory mobility and partner institutions before applying.
Is an ACES-STAR fee waiver the same as full funding?
No. The provider distinguishes tuition and insurance support from a full scholarship; remaining costs need a separate plan.
